The Work
作品
Lost & Found: I lose myself in cities to find my soul. From unexpected places into infinite places.
“In this ambiguous space, the mind has lost its geometrical homeland and the spirit is drifting.” –Gaston Bachelard, The Poetics of Space
Gaston Bachelard, The Poetics of Space
This series presents the familiar geometry of the city in radically altered ways, reintroducing ambiguity into the expected and forcing the viewer to question their own pre-conceptions of what is real.
Roberto’s work is characterized by his desire to explore the meaning of “truth” and “reality” through his lens. He is committed to capturing the beauty of the world around us, and his images are often marked by a sense of introspection and contemplation.
The Process
The act of creation is organic, without premeditation. As I journey through the intimate spaces of the city, I feel moments of connection to a place which compel me to explore how that connection arose, and discover its true story.
My only tools apart from my camera are coloured gels, held up manually over the lens, that I use to reveal spontaneous and unexpected new truths. Each photograph captures my connection to that single moment. Therefore, none of these photographs have undergone any form of post-processing. Once the shutter closes, the process is complete.
